Mike started his professional photographic career working for one of the largest newspaper groups in South Africa as a press photographer in the early 1980s, covering news ,sporting events, human interest and breaking news  . Mike has had  numerous bylines and front page images during his career. Mike later worked as a freelance photographer.

He continues to be a active photographer to this present day. ​

This experience allowed Mike to develop a instinctive,  inquisitive, creative style which enables him to adapt to any situation in front of the camera. Mike often shoots images on the fly to capture the image  that tells a story .

" This is why I am still out there shooting society in flux . Even though the world is constantly  changing,  their stories matter ."
